Reading Rewards

August 29, 2014 by Alli 2 Comments

Get your child in the habit of reading by using incentives - $2 for every 100 pages they read!

When I was younger, I LOVED to read. So much, in fact, that I was frequently grounded from reading. My mom thought it was a crazy thing to ground me from, but I just couldn’t put a book down!

To this day, I still love to read – I just wish I had more time for it! There were many things that contributed to my love of literature, but my parents were the biggest influence. My mom read to us kids almost every night and encouraged us to read on our own.

They also set up a Reading Rewards System, where we would get paid $2 for every 100 pages we read. We all loved it, and read a TON. At first, of course, we were motivated by the money 🙂 After a while though, we couldn’t help but fall in love with reading!

Reading Incentive System for your kids - $2 for every 100 pages they read!

You can use any kind of rewards you want – whatever motivates your kids! We didn’t have allowance growing up, so this was how we earned our spending money. It was a great system, and I can’t wait for my kiddos to be old enough to do it!

Super cute! I love it 🙂 We read TONS of books every night in our house too. I grew up loving reading so it is something that I want to pass onto my kiddos. My goal is to read 20 stories a night! Obviously, at this point they are short little books, but I really want our reading to grow as he grows.

20 a night is amazing! Sophie loves Dr Seuss, and I could never get through 20 of those in 1 night! haha
