I need somebody to explain something to me, because I am honestly stumped…
Why is it that the thing I hate and fear the most, I also find strangely adorable?? I have yet to meet a spider I don’t despise, but when I was preparing all of my Halloween treats and crafts, they were all I could think about. I honestly could’ve made a month’s worth of spiders, but I didn’t want to be the creepy spider lady.
So… I cut back as much as I could and ended up with 4 spider-themed posts. That’s perfectly acceptable, right?
I sure hope so. Cause there’s no turning back now.
This spider craft is so simple, but looks so cute. All you need is a glue gun, pom poms, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes. You can use whatever sized of pom poms you want – I made mine with 1 1/2″ and 2 ” pom poms.
First, cut your pipe cleaners to your desired length. For my larger spiders I made them 10″ long, and then 8 1/2″ for the smaller ones. You’ll need 4 pipe cleaners for each spider.
Bend the pipe cleaners in half, then each side in half again, in the opposite direction, to make an “M”.
Glue 4 “M”s to the bottom of each pom pom and, when dry, glue on some eyes. And you’re done!
Unfortunately, Elmer’s glue doesn’t work super well with pom poms, so I definitely recommend a hot glue gun. If your kiddo is old enough, let them use a glue gun on the “cool” setting, which isn’t near as hot as normal.
Even though Sophie wasn’t actively gluing though, she still had fun. She organized all of the eyes, picked out the pom poms, and dictated instructions as I glued.
She loved the final result, even if she thought they were a little creepy. I guess she has the same love/hate relationship with spiders that I do 🙂
well when I see a spider I usually scream and then stomp on it, but you are right there is something fun about “fake” spiders.
