Halloween Felt Board

DIY felt board - Let your kids be creative and tell spooky stories, or just rearrange the pieces for fun

In the spirit of Halloween, let’s talk about something downright creepy. The other day while Owen was napping, Jonny and I fell asleep on the family room floor. We were hit with the afternoon sleepies, and there was just no way around it.

After we woke up, Jonny happened to check his phone, and he noticed something a little disturbing… His phone had about 30 pictures of us sleeping. There were pictures from all angles – some up close, some far away… ALL creepy.

When we asked Sophie if she took the pictures, she very nonchalantly said “yep!” like it was a totally normal thing to do. {It wasn’t}. The spookiest part was the fact that somebody could get that close to us and in our faces and we didn’t wake up! Made me a little nervous, to be honest.

Well, let me just shake that one off and tell you about our fun project for today. We made a felt storyboard – Halloween style! All you need is some felt, scissors, a piece of foam board (mine was 11″ x 12″) and a glue gun.

You can customize it any way you want, and the possibilities are endless. You could make little felt people (trick or treaters would be cute!) to use to tell stories. I kept mine pretty simple, but with enough elements to keep Soph entertained for a while.

I glued down the large sheets of green and blue, so the background will always be the same. But then the felt pieces are loose, so you can change them around as much as you want. Felt sticks to felt, so you don’t need any adhesives!

These storyboards are so fun, and encourage kiddos to use their imaginations. We sure love ours!
