I’m super excited about sharing this craft with you guys! I don’t know why, but it’s probably my favorite Christmas thing we’ve done so far. I just love how simple and beautiful it is. And it costs almost nothing, which is a huge bonus 🙂
Here’s what you need:
Green, brown, and yellow paper (I used cardstock)
Multi-colored tissue paper
Round hole punch (1″)
Start out by cutting out 2 identical Christmas trees. I googled for a picture, and printed that off. Then I cut it out, and traced out the shape on the green cardstock. I’m not the best at free-handing these kinds of things, so this was definitely the way to go!
Lay your trees on top of each other so they line up perfectly, and use your hole punch to cut out circles all over. This way the holes will line up just right. I used a 1″ hole punch, but you might need a different size, depending on how big you make your tree.
Cut your tissue paper into squares and tape them over the circles on one of the trees, making sure they completely cover the holes. Sophie has a not-so-small obsession with tape, so she certainly didn’t hold back…
Cut a small rectangle out of the brown paper and glue it to the bottom of the tree.
Cover the other tree in glue, and lay it on top (covering the side with the tape). Word of caution: If your trees are not perfectly symmetrical, pay attention to what side you glue, otherwise they won’t line up properly. I learned this the hard way 🙁
Once your tree is put together, cut out 2 yellow stars and glue them on top, one on each side of the tree.
And there ya go! A beautiful little decoration for your window. What are these things called, anyway? I’m not sure. But I should probably learn, cause I love them. The way the light shines through them is just lovely, and I could look at it all day!
Apparently so could Sophie 🙂
