If you follow my blog at all, you’re probably aware of the fact that I live in a tiny little town in Arkansas. We moved here for my husband’s job, and have been here almost a year. Living in a small town certainly has it’s perks, (no traffic!) but it’s also pretty challenging at times. What makes it harder, is that we don’t have any family near us. Most of our relatives live out west – the closest family we have is my sister, who lives 8 hours away.
Being so distant from family is tough, especially when I think of my kids, and how they don’t get to spend much quality time with their grandparents. We try to chat with them often, but my little monkeys end up being so hyper, it’s almost impossible to get anything out of them 🙂
When I heard about Panasonic’s new app called HomeTeam, I was pretty excited. It’s basically a way to stay connected to people who live far away. You can video chat and interact with each other by playing games and reading books. And if the wild ones are engaged in reading and playing, that means less time putting their noses up to the camera, and screaming like maniacs… right? 🙂
They have a bunch of books on there (including Disney books!), and you can read them while video-chatting. It’s a pretty neat idea!
There are also a bunch of games designed for different ages. Naturally, my kids are all about the matching game – especially because it’s a Curious George version. We’re all about the monkeys in this house 🙂
You can use the app on a tablet or desktop, and after the first 30-day free trial, it costs $8.95/month. The idea behind this app is really great, and I love that it helps bring you closer to people you don’t get to see very often!
